Join me on the journey of creating our very first digital product; TrendFusion a full website template for WooCommerce built with and for Bricks Builder and Automatic CSS.

From concept to launch, I’ll share the challenges, lessons, and excitement of turning an idea into reality—and how it has the potential fuels two businesses at once.

Whether you’re an aspiring entrepreneur or simply curious about digital product creation, this story offers actionable insights for your journey.

My Online Entrepreneurship Journey

I’ve been in the online entrepreneurship game since 2018, ever since I left my 9-to-5 job as an area manager and team leader at a popular smartphone company.

Since then, I’ve worn multiple hats—freelancer, problem-solver for WordPress-related issues, business website builder, and content creator promoting digital products to earn affiliate commissions.

Over the years, my small but dedicated team and I have generated hundreds of thousands of dollars in total sales for others, earning a significant amount in commissions.

If you want to learn more about my journey, click here.

Along the way, I’ve learned many lessons about building, launching, and running a digital product business, thanks to the founders and teams I’ve built strong connections with while promoting their products.

I always aspired to create my own digital product, but due to time constraints and other responsibilities, I couldn’t bring any of my ideas to life—until recently.

The Leap into Micro-SaaS Powered by AI

Last year (2024), I finally made time to develop a micro-SaaS product as a side project.

It took me four months to fully build it completely using AI tools.

Originally, I built the tool for internal use, but I later decided to make it public so others could benefit from it as well.

While I haven’t yet implemented the monetization system—since that’s a time-consuming process—I plan to complete it and launch the paid version in the coming months.

What I Learned:

  • User feedback is non-negotiable for refining a product. What you think users need and what they actually need can be worlds apart. Engaging early adopters helps fine-tune features and usability.
  • Marketing strategy separates contenders from leaders in crowded markets. A great product without visibility is just another forgotten project. Differentiation and effective positioning are key.
  • Technical challenges demand patience and adaptability. From technical issues to platform limitations, overcoming hurdles requires persistence and problem-solving skills.
  • Balancing monetization with value is critical for long-term success. Rushing into pricing models without understanding user behavior can hurt adoption and trust.

This experience has deepened my understanding of what it takes to create and grow a micro-SaaS product successfully.

The Dual Business Opportunity: Two Birds, One Stone

TrendFusion wasn’t born from a single need—it was designed to solve two major problems at once:

  1. Productizing My Agency: Clients receive a ready-made templatized design instead of waiting weeks for a custom build (after building 9 more full website templates I will start paying focus on this).
  2. Empowering Fellow Developers: Offer the same high-quality full website templates to Bricks Builder users who lack the time, expertise, or resources to build them from scratch.

Why This Works:

  • Efficiency: One template serves agency clients and simultaneously becomes a standalone digital product targeting DYI business owners and professional website builders.
  • Scalability: By serving two different audiences (business owners needing websites and developers needing templates), I can maximize the product’s reach.
  • Recurring Revenue: A single build can generate revenue repeatedly, making it a sustainable model (I have yet to test this dual business strategy though 😅).

Identifying the Gap

As a Bricks Builder power user, while using it for client sites, I noticed a gap, a real pain point: there was a lack of full WooCommerce website templates specifically designed for Bricks.

Most options were fragmented “section template libraries” requiring hours of assembly. I asked myself: What if I built ready-to-launch templates for niche stores?

This presented a great opportunity!

I decided to create industry-specific eCommerce templates that I could sell in my store, allowing both other Bricks Builder developers and my productized business clients to benefit. It was a win-win-win situation!

I started researching design inspirations and found that many successful Shopify stores had visually appealing designs.

I decided to create at least 10 full WooCommerce website templates using my go-to tech stack: Bricks Builder, Automatic CSS, and WooCommerce.

To kick things off, I built TrendFusion, a flashy retro-styled trendy eCommerce design inspired by The Outrage.

While I loved their homepage, the rest of their site seemed like a design mess—so I built my own versions of those pages.

TrendFusion Creation: From Concept to Launch

Phase 1: Market Research & Design

  • Validating Demand: Surveys and discussions in Bricks Builder communities confirmed that full-site WooCommerce templates were in high demand among both developers and end-users.
  • Aesthetic Vision: Inspired by a successful Shopify store The Outrage, I blended bold retro vibes with modern, functional layouts to create a unique look.

Phase 2: Prototyping

  • Tech Stack:
    • Color Palette: I used Instagram’s color palette for a vibrant and engaging feel.
    • Typography: I chose the Arvo font family for typography for a clean and readable font.
    • Web Hosting: I built the full demo site using my StartHost LTD, a hosting plan I grabbed from StackSocial years ago for development and testing purposes.
    • Dependencies: I ensured minimal plugin dependency, relying only on Bricks BuilderAutomatic CSS, and WooCommerce.
  • Template Pages Included:
    • Homepage, shop, product pages, cart, checkout, blog, contact, and many more layouts—all optimized for speed and UX.

Phase 3: Beta Testing

To ensure quality, I offered a free copy to a selected group of early testers in exchange for feedback. Their insights helped me refine the product and improve the overall experience.

  • Beta Testers: (a mix of developers and agency clients provided hands-on feedback:
    • Developers loved the commercial licensing potential.
    • Agencies praised the time saved on custom builds.
  • Iterations: Based on feedback, I improved some bugs and inconsistencies for better UX.

Phase 4: Launch Strategy

From Jeff Walker’s book Launch, I learned the importance of building pre-launch hype and collecting early adopter emails in exchange for lead magnets.

Since I don’t have a lead magnet yet, I decided to offer:

  • Scarcity Offer: An 80% discount ($9.99) for the first 100 buyers (Feb 1–7) to drive urgency.
  • Dual Marketing Strategy:
    • For Agencies: Pitched as a “client-ready” solution.
    • For Developers: Emphasized commercial licensing rights.

Once the promotional period ends, it will be available at full price, though I might offer occasional discount coupons (but it won’t be as big as the pre-launch offer, that’s for sure).

Phase 5: Marketing & Community Building

To maximize reach and engagement, I have launched a dedicated Facebook community for my store.

This space will serve as a hub for:

  • Sharing exclusive offers and updates for our products.
  • Connecting with fellow entrepreneurs and business owners.
  • Collecting feedback for future product ideas.
  • Provide direct support for our products.

Phase 6: Launch & Future Plans

I’m currently designing the SyncWin Store, where I’ll list all my upcoming digital products so that my audience can easily purchase whatever they need.

Initially, I planned to use WooCommerce to power my store, but I pivoted to Lemon Squeezy due to Stripe’s restrictions on Indian accounts and the risk of using PayPal for an eCommerce store.

Once the store is live, I’ll continue working on the remaining 9 full WooCommerce website templates for Bricks, each catering to a specific industry.

(However, two more non-e-commerce general-purpose full website templates are ready which I am going to release soon.)

This strategy will allow me to diversify my revenue streams, generating income from:

  • Custom agency services
  • Productized web design solutions
  • Affiliate marketing (blog & community)
  • Digital product sales
  • Recurring revenue from a micro-SaaS product

What’s next in terms of my digital products:

  • SyncWin Store official launch (a future hub for all my digital products).
  • 9 niche e-com templates (general, technology, digital products, etc.).

Key Takeaways & Lessons for Other Creators

1. Time Constraints Force Focus

When you have limited time, you’re forced to prioritize what truly matters.

I didn’t get caught up in perfectionism—I focused on delivering a high-quality MVP that solved a real problem.

2. Market Research is Non-Negotiable

Skipping research would have been a disaster.

Understanding what users need and how existing solutions fall short helped me create something that genuinely adds value.

3. Done is Better Than Perfect

I could have spent weeks fine-tuning every detail, but that would have delayed the launch.

Instead, I released a polished version to gather feedback for future improvements.

4. Documentation is Just as Important as the Product

A digital product is only useful if users know how to install and customize it effortlessly.

Investing time in clear documentation reduced support requests and improved user experience.

5. Addressing Customer Concerns Early Helps Conversions

Some users might wonder: Why should I buy a template instead of building from scratch?

The answer is simple—A well-crafted ful website template like TrendFusion saves hours of setup time, even for pros.

A pre-built solution lets you focus on customization and branding instead of repetitive setup tasks.

6. Leverage Existing Communities for Promotion

Since Bricks Builder has an active and engaged community, I didn’t need to reinvent the wheel.

By sharing my product where my ideal audience already hangs out, I generated organic interest.

For example, I generated around 40 leads out of 100 slots just by posting about TrendFusion on Bricks community by the end of 31st January which is not bad because for your first product even getting first 10 people can be really though.

7. The True Potential of Digital Product Business

At first it feels wild to sell this complete e-commerce website template at just $10, considering it includes over 20 well-designed pages and layouts.

Typically, at SyncWin Media (which is my agency), I charge $100+ per client for single-page designs and $50+ for agencies.

However, this is how digital product businesses work: build once, scale endlessly. The long-term revenue potential becomes clear once the 80% off prelaunch offer ends – I’m confident in this model.

Additionally, I will utilize the same templates to promote my productized web design services, which add value with minimal effort.

Conclusion

By designing TrendFusion to serve two distinct audiences, I’ve unlocked the efficiency and scalability I never imagined. But this is just the beginning!

Now that I’ve validated the idea, I plan to:

  • Improve the template based on user feedback.
  • Create more variations with different design styles.
  • Expand distribution to third-party marketplaces like AppSumo for greater reach.

By staying consistent, iterating based on real user feedback, and prioritizing value, I aim to build a sustainable digital business that empowers entrepreneurs, developers, and agencies alike.

This experiment showed me that digital products are a fantastic way to generate income while solving real problems for users.
