Once you verify your email address OR/AND domain with the Amazon SES Account the next step would be to move the SES Account out of Sandbox or you wouldn’t be able to leverage the benefits of SES. Therefore, in this tutorial, I will show you how to move your Amazon SES Account from Sandbox to Production level access.
Amazon places all the new accounts in the Sandbox, and the reason behind putting your SES account in Sandbox mode and applying certain restrictions is to help you protect your reputation as a sender.
When your account is in sandbox mode, it has the following restrictions:
So to remove all these restrictions by Amazon and leverage the power of Amazon SES Service just follow this tutorial to move your account out of Sandbox to make it Production ready.
The very first step is to Log in to your Amazon SES Console and click on the Sending Statistics menu link under the Email Sending menu from the left sidebar.
Now click the Edit Your Account Details button from the Your Account Details section under the Sending Statistics page to proceed with the application of removing Sandbox status from your account.
After you click the above-mentioned button you will need to fill up all the fields on the Edit Account Details popup window.
This step is the most crucial in this entire tutorial thus you need to fill up the form very carefully if you want to get approved for the Amazon SES Production.
Follow the instructions below while filling up the form:
Once you fill up all the details in the mentioned form just click the Submit for Review button.
As soon as you submit the form you will see a notice on the Sending Statistics page of your SES Account which should contain the message “Your account details are currently under review”.
Also on the same page, you can check the current sending limits as follows:
Pay attention to these limits as they will increase as soon as your account moves out of the sandbox and you get the production access approval.
The next step is to refresh the page or again click on the Sending Statistics link from the left menu just like you did in the very first step of this tutorial and click on the See case ########### link from the notice section.
As soon as you click on the above mentioned link you will land on the Your Support Cases page where you can see the detailed information about your SES account status also you can reply to the Amazon SES support if you need to or if they ask for some additional information from you to approve your account.
Please note: In case if for some reason they don’t approve your account for the production access then they will let you know the proper reason on this page as well as through an email, so in that case, you just need to reply to them and provide further information they may seek to give you the approval.
They will approve your account if you just follow the instructions given in this tutorial.
This is the last step, and you need to perform this step after 24 to 48 hours of submitting your request for the Amazon SES Production Access.
Just like the first or fourth step here also you need to click on the Sending Statistics link from the left Email Sending menu to check if your SES Account is enabled for production access or not.
If it’s enabled then you can see an Enabled status instead of the previous Sandbox status on the Production Access under Your Account Details section.
Also, you can see the changes in sending limits as compared to when it was on the Sandbox mode, the limits would vary for different accounts based on the requirements and use cases.
My current Amazon SES Sending Limits are as follows:
